Senior Electrical Engineer (f/m/d)

At MAGNOTHERM, we are developing a revolutionary refrigeration technology that has the potential to eliminate up to 30% of energy demand and 100% of direct greenhouse gas emissions in the cooling industry. Our vision is to provide the cleanest and most sophisticated cooling solutions to reduce climate impact and costs. Founded in 2019, our deep tech company is a spin-off of the Technical University of Darmstadt. 

As our Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll take end-to-end ownership of the electronic hardware that controls our magnetocaloric cooling devices — from architecture through to production. You'll own EMC compliance across our products, working directly with test labs and certification bodies, and you'll be the technical bridge to our manufacturing partners as we scale from prototype to production. Beyond the hardware itself, you'll help define where our electronics roadmap goes next and mentor the engineers building it with you.

A. Skillset

• Hands-on experience with PCB design, including at least 5 years in a professional setting, ideally having taken products from prototype through to production or mass manufacturing.
• Knowledge of electromagnetic compliance and how to achieve it, ideally including experience independently leading EMC test campaigns.
• Experience working with microcontrollers.
• A tinkerer's mindset — you've soldered your own projects and enjoy working with electronics.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, solution-oriented work ethic — done is better than perfect.
• Ability to structure tasks independently, adapt to shifting priorities, and manage multiple workstreams in parallel, taking ownership of the electronics domain without close supervision.
• Experience mentoring, guiding, or informally leading other engineers.
• Nice-to-Have: Basic programming experience in firmware development for microcontrollers; experience with regulatory certification processes (e.g. CE, UL) beyond EMC is a plus.

B. Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field, plus minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience — this is not an entry-level role.
• English (C1+) is required; strong German skills are a plus but not mandatory — we are an international team, and the role involves occasional communication with local/international suppliers.
• Ability to work on-site with occasional flexibility for remote work (we are an office-first company). As a startup, we value flexibility, creativity, and a hands-on mindset. This role is for those who thrive in fast-paced environments and are ready to turn ideas into reality.
